Every September, Apple releases a major iOS update. In September, Apple is releasing iOS 27, the newest version of the software that powers your iPhone.
But here’s the catch: the iPhone XS Max can’t update beyond iOS 18. That means that as app developers gradually raise their minimum iOS requirements, more apps will stop supporting the iPhone XS Max.
So, which apps will not work with the iPhone XS Max?
The answer depends on the minimum iOS version required by each app. Any app that requires iOS 26 or later will not work on an iPhone XS Max, while apps that still support iOS 18 should continue to work.
