Every September, Apple releases a major iOS update. In September, Apple is releasing iOS 27, the newest version of the software that powers your iPhone.
But here’s the catch: the iPhone XS can’t update beyond iOS 18. That means that as app developers gradually raise their minimum iOS requirements, more apps will stop supporting the iPhone XS.
So, which apps will not work with the iPhone XS?
The answer depends on the minimum iOS version required by each app. Any app that requires iOS 26 or later will not work on an iPhone XS, while apps that still support iOS 18 should continue to work.

Keep in mind that app compatibility can change at any time. An app that works on the iPhone XS today may require a newer version of iOS after a future update.
